Kathleen M. Barcola Vanleuven

Kathleen M. Barcola Vanleuven, 82, formerly of Carbondale, died Thursday December 10th at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore.  She was preceded in death by her first husband, Angelo J. Barcola, and her second husband, James Vanleuven.

Born in Binghamton, NY, daughter of the late William and Marguerite Peck Massee, she was a member of the Berean Baptist Church, Carbondale.  She received her LPN degree from the Lackawanna County Practical Nursing Program.  Prior to her retirement, she had been employed at the Carbondale Nursing Home, Clarks Summit State Hospital, and Farview State Hospital.

Surviving are her children: Concetta Barcola, Scranton; Patricia Zimmer and husband George, Taylor; Susan Zuk and husband Mike, Clifford; Randi Barcola, Old Forge; Robert Barcola and wife Marissa, Old Forge; Vicky Barcola, Carbondale; and Michael Vanleuven and companion Jennifer, Forest City; several grandchildren; and several great grandchildren; a brother: Richard Massee and wife Deborah, Lake Ariel; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Hospice of the Sacred Heart and In Home Personal Care Services, especially Madison and Mindy for their compassionate care.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.  Arrangements by the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Ave., Carbondale.
