Kathryn Price, 71, of Union Dale, a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 9th, surrounded by the people she loved, following her courageous battle with cancer. She was the widow of Lewis Clifford Price, who died February 16, 2018; the couple had been married for 29 years prior to his passing.
Born in Susquehanna, daughter of the late Nathan and Mae Marie Winans Penn, Kathryn was a strong, hardworking woman who spent many years providing for and caring for her family. She worked at the EJ Shoe Factory, Forest City for many years until it closed. She continued her career at Gentex Corp., Simpson where she worked for more than 30 years until her illness forced her to retire.
To those who knew Kathryn best, her greatest accomplishment was her family. She loved her children and grandchildren deeply and cherished every moment she was able to spend with them. Some of her happiest memories were made at the beach, on family vacations and camping trips, and simply enjoying the everyday moments with the people she loved. Kathryn had a special way of making memories that her family will carry with them forever. Her love, strength, laughter, and presence will be missed more than words can express.
Although our hearts are broken by her passing, there is comfort in knowing that Kathryn is no longer suffering and has been reunited with the love of her life, Lewis. We imagine them together again, free from pain and surrounded by peace.
Mom, Grandma, and Kathryn-you were loved more than you will ever know. Your family will carry your memory in our hearts, in our stories, and in all the little things that remind us of you. Until we meet again, you will forever be loved, forever missed, and never forgotten.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Geisinger-CMC for all of the kindness, compassion, and support they provided during her illness and throughout her stay. We are deeply grateful for the thoughtful care shown to her and our family during such a difficult time.
She leaves behind her children: Georgia Stephens and her husband, John, of Uniondale; Gloria Davis and companion John Dombkowski, of Uniondale; Marlena Anderson and her husband, Joshua, of Uniondale: and Joshua Price and his companion, Madison Kenny, of Uniondale.
She is also survived by her stepdaughters: January Roney of Uniondale; and Jackie Hazen of Orson; her sister: Patty Ross and her husband, Dale, of Lenox; and her brother, Richard Penn, and his wife, Linda, of Maryland. Her greatest legacy continues through her grandchildren: Amanda, Sarah, Kayla, Paige, Brooke, Ashley, Warren, Jacob, Jaxon, Summer, Seirra, Joey, Justin, Jessie, Jermae, Easton, and Owen; along with her 11 precious great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a brother: Robert Penn.
The funeral will be Monday, September 14th in the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main Street, Forest City, with services at 11 am by Pastor Jen Russell. Friends may call Sunday at the funeral home from 2 to 5 pm.
In her memory, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to cancer research.
