Kenneth Cornell Obituary

Kenneth Bruce Cornell, 76, formerly of Carbondale and Forest City, and currently of Leesburg, FL passed away surrounded by his loving family on Monday June 8th. His wife, the late Judith Sosnowski Cornell, died in 1989.

Born in Carbondale, son of the late Herbert and May Sullivan Cornell, he was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale.  He was a former member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale, and a current member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Leesburg.  During the span of his occupational career, he had a variety of jobs ranging from working in the garment industry to working at the Forest City Nursing Home to working at Glass Products of Carbondale. After his retirement in 2010, he moved to Leesburg, Florida.   He loved collecting baseball cards and memorabilia, watching John Wayne movies, and finding a good yard sale.  Ken was a veteran of the Pennsylvania National Guard and a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 221, Carbondale.

Ken is survived by his three children, Melissa Cornell, Kelly Cornell, and Kenn Cornell Jr. all of Leesburg, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Herbert Cornell and Barry Cornell.

The funeral will be Friday, June 26th with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in Saint Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale.  Interment will follow in Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.  Arrangements by the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale.
