Leila (Johnson) Pauswinski

Leila Johnson Pauswinski, 91, Forest City, died Friday October 5th at Gracious Living Estates, Montrose. She was the widow of Frank P. “Hank” Pauswinski, who died on June 18, 2014. The couple was married for almost 69 years.
Born in Branchville, N.J., the daughter of the late Cory and Glenna Clifford Johnson, she attended Newton High School of Newton, N.J., and, after high school, graduated from beauty school in Newark, N.J., becoming a licensed beautician. Leila met Frank after WWII in Newark. Shortly after getting married, the couple moved to Forest City, where she was employed in the garment industry, working in several Forest City and Carbondale area dress factories. She was also a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. Leila was a member of Ascension Parish of Forest City. 
She was particularly known for her love of family and friends.
The family would like to thank the caring staff of Gracious Living Estates and Hospice of Sacred Heart, particularly Helen Stinavage and Mary Pat Freitag, for the outstanding care given to Leila. 
Surviving are two daughters, Linda Kutch and husband, Frank, Napanoch, N.Y.; Brenda Korty and husband, Bruce, Montrose; a sister, Audria Jaeger, Texas; her grandchildren, Frank Kutch and wife, Lynn; Barbara Doolittle and husband, Todd; Debra Haight and husband, Matthew; Brian Korty and wife, Ju-Young; Sharon Korty, Aaron Korty and Sandra Korty; six great-grandchildren, Alexa Kutch, Gillian Doolittle, Aidan and Cameron Haight, Noah Korty and Brendan Korty; her adopted Hawaiian family, Sharla McCane, Onaona and Kawehi Thoene; Pomai Thoene and wife, Carla, and their children, Leslie, Makana and Sam Thoene; and several nieces and nephews.  
The funeral will be on Monday October 8th with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, Delaware St., Forest City. Interment will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Forest City.
A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until Mass time at the church.
