Retired Sergeant Major Lewis Robert Crocker, 79, of Enola and formerly of Carbondale, died on March 2, 2025 after an illness. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lucille Geueke Crocker.
Born in Carbondale, son of the late Charles and Alberta Davis Crocker, he was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, and received a BS in History from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Lew retired from the U.S. Army and the Pennsylvania National Guard with 30 years of combined service. He served with 1st Battalion 109th Infantry and last served with the 55th Brigade as the Operations Sergeant Major. Lew was a veteran having served one tour of duty in Vietnam. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal with Silver Star, Good Conduct Medal (4th Award), Vietnam Service Medal (with Bronze Star), Army Achievement Medal (4th Award), Bronze Star Medal, Air Medal, Army Parachute Badge, Meritorious Service Medal (3rd Award).
Lew loved his family and was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren. He was an avid train collector, enjoyed watching golf on TV, and cheering on the Green Bay Packers. He loved all animals, especially his granddog, Cissy.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters: Kimberly Trason, husband Allan, Enola; Rev. Kelly Crocker, Middleton, WI; grandchildren: Annie Trason, Sam Raysbrook, and Owen Crocker; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles, and sister, Joan Trunk.
The funeral will be Saturday, March 8th with a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 Noon in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 1101 Willow St., Peckville. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Willow View Cemetery, Clifford. Friends may call at the church from 11 am until mass time.
