Linda L. Corey, 75 of Herrick Township went to meet her Savior, Jesus, on Thursday June 8th at home, surrounded by her family, after an 8 year battle with breast cancer.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Desmond Corey. Also surviving are her children, Kent and his wife Casey of Coopersburg, PA.; Nina and her fiancé Diana Bree of Las Vegas, NV; Samuel and his wife Jackie of Union Dale, Virginia Crawford and her husband Tobin of Oakland, PA.; and Desmond Corey Jr. and his wife Mary of Duryea, PA as well as a sister Wendy Quaranta and her husband Victor, a brother Robert Johnson and his wife Maggie, 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Linda taught 5th grade for 10 years at Blue Ridge School District and then retired to raise her family. She home-schooled her three younger children and worked in the family business. She was the drama director at the Forest City Regional School for several years. She attended Servant Church of The Abingtons in Clarks Green where she was the writer and director of the Easter Production "Sonrise" for eight years. Many lives were touched by the opportunity to be a part of these productions, either as cast, crew, or audience.
Her legacy extended far beyond her family and church. Over the years she opened her home - dozens of people who were in need- some for a few nights, others for weeks or years. All were accepted as family and enjoyed the love that she provided. She was called Mom and Grandma by countless individuals whose lives she touched through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Her home was a sanctuary for many, a place of peace and, most of all, a place of LOVE. She strove to make her home a glimpse of what Heaven will be for us.
A celebration of Linda's life will be held at the Servant Church of the Abingtons, 204 S. Abington Road, Clarks Green on Friday June 16 at 5 pm with food and fellowship to follow. Arrangements by the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main St., Forest City.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Encounter Ministry of Servant Church.
