Louis V. Kotar, 88, of Vandling, died Monday November 15th at Allied Services Hospice, Scranton. He is survived by his wife, the former Martha Emmons.
Born in Vandling, son of the late Louis and Christine Pazel Kotar, he was a member of Ascension Parish, Forest City. He was a graduate of Vandling High School, Class of 1952. Prior to retirement, he was employed as a surveyor for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. Afterwards, he became a carpenter, working for several area contractors. He later worked at Jerry’s Sports Center, Vandling. Louie loved woodworking, especially making toys for local children. He loved his neighbor’s children: Matty and Maria Serge.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Allied Services Hospice and Interim HealthCare for the compassionate care given to Louis.
Also surviving are a sister-in-law: Joan Kotar, Albany, NY; several cousins including her favorite, Dorothy Pazel; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers: his twin Leonard Kotar and Henry Kotar; and three sisters: Christine Piatkowski; Anna Tusar; Margaret Sheroshek.
The funeral will be Friday, November 19th with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Joseph’s Church, Delaware St., Forest City. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Forest City. Friends may call at the church, from 9am until mass time. Arrangements by the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main Street, Forest City.
