Margaret Romayne Jordan, 97, of Carbondale, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Monday, January 25th. She was the widow of John Martin Jordan, Sr., who died in 1981.
Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late John J. and Mable Cox Roe, she was a member of Saint Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. She was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale. She was previously employed at Cramer’s Photography Studio, Carbondale, where she enjoyed developing film and socializing with customers.
Margaret’s favorite thing to do was spend time with her family, who all brought her so much love and joy. She was an avid shopper, who kept Sugarman’s Department Store in business. She loved her dinners at McDonnell’s Restaurant after her shopping trips.
The family would like to thank the staff at Traditional Home Health Hospice, especially Lisa Reed for their wonderful care.
Margaret will always be remembered for her love and undying faith.
Surviving are her five children: Kathleen Marzzacco and husband Dr. Joseph; John Jordan and wife Bernadette; Maureen Fox and husband Dennis; Joseph Jordan and wife Kelly; and Maggie Jordan, all of Carbondale; 14 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her brother: Jack Roe; and her grandson: John Martin Marzzacco.
The funeral will be Friday, January 29th with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in Saint Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church St., Carbondale. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill. Friends may call at the church from 9 am until mass time. Masks and social distancing are required. Arrangements by the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale.
