Margaret Ann “Peggy” Carden, 76, of Carbondale, died Wednesday October 19th at Allied Services Skilled Nursing Center, Scranton, after a battle with COPD. She was the widow of Thomas Carden; the couple had been married for 33 years.
Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late John and Eleanor Shelden Caffery, she was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. Peggy spent her life in service of her community by service as a member of the Cottage Hose Ambulance Company, Carbondale for over 49 years; she served several terms as President of the organization. Prior to retirement, she was employed by the Marion Community Hospital, Carbondale for most of her life, first as the hospitals’ first van/bus transport driver, and later in the billing department. Peggy loved her family unconditionally; she was the rock for her family, showing us how to be selfless and strong and a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother by being there for anyone who needed her. She always put her family first.
Surviving are four sons: Thomas Carden; Shawn Carden and wife Shannon; Danny Carden and wife Kristina; Dennis Carden and wife Jonna; 10 grandchildren: Mariah; Conner; Bailey; Liam; Cody; Gavin; Trinity; McKenna; Emily; Jamison; and her first great grandchild: Kylie. She is also survived by her extended family, grandchildren: Season Jackson and life partner Chris Lorinz; Arthur Lesher and wife Kendra, and several great grandchildren.
The funeral will be Monday, October 24th from the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park, Montdale. Friends may call Sunday, from 2 to 5 pm.
