Marie E. Clark, RN, 76, of Waymart, died Saturday November 16th, surrounded by her family at home following an illness.  She is survived by her husband, the love of her life, James Clark; the couple had been married for 51 years.

Born in Paterson, NJ, daughter of the late John and Rita Skelly Meyer and stepdaughter of the late Nita Meyer, she was a member of St. Mary’s Church, Waymart.  She was a graduate of East Side High School, Class of 1966 and the Saint Joseph’s School of Nursing, Class of 1968, both of Paterson, NJ.  She lived in Paterson for several years before moving to Clifton, NJ, then finally to Waymart.  Prior to her retirement, she was employed as an ICU nurse at the former Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale.  She had previously been employed by the Carbondale Nursing Home.  During her career in New Jersey, she worked in the Cath Lab of St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Paterson, and she helped to set up Cath Labs in many different hospitals in the area, including Chilton Hospital in Wayne and Muhlenberg Hospital in Plainfield.  Marie enjoyed quilting and baking.  She also loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren who called her Ema.

The family would like to thank the staffs at the Carbondale Nursing Center and Wayne Woodlands, as well as Dr. Manahan at Geisinger for their compassionate care.

Also surviving are three daughters: Amber Purvis and husband Jason, Waymart; Blythe Costello and husband Joseph, Bloomingdale, NJ; Deneva Dutton and significant other Zach Matisko, Tyler Hill; seven grandchildren: Noah, Addison and Rowan Purvis; Aurora and AJ Dutton; and Emily and Jordan Costello; a sister: Colleen Anderson, Dingmans Ferry; and many nieces, nephew, grand nieces, grand nephews, and great grand nieces and great grand nephews; and many close friends and “chosen grandchildren” too numerous to mention.

She was also preceded in death by seven siblings: Winfred Caldo; John Meyer, Jr.; James Meyer; Rita Cournoyer; Kathleen Kauffman; Charlie Meyer; Rosetta Allen.

The funeral will be Thursday November 21st with a blessing service at 3 pm in the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale.  Friends may call Thursday, from 1 to 3 pm.
