Marion Stanavige Obituary

Marion Lucy Stanavige, 98, of Crossville, TN, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2022, at Cumberland House Hospice.

Mrs. Stanavige was born in Forest City, to the late Frank and Anna Komantauskas. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Joseph Stanavige, of Browndale. They lived in Hartford, CT, where she worked at a job she truly enjoyed at the Aetna Life & Casualty Insurance Company.

Helping family was top priority, but she also loved gardening, sewing, knitting, and interior decorating. An excellent teacher, her family says that she missed her calling. She was unafraid to tackle whatever she set her mind to, and achieved skill in all endeavors.

In 2017 she left Connecticut with her daughter and son-in-law to share their new home in the Carolinas. She moved again in 2020 to stay with her other daughter in Tennessee, where the mountains are reminiscent of her birthplace.

She is predeceased by all her siblings – sister (infant) Alice Komantauskas born in Lithuania; and six American-born brothers and sisters – John Komantauskas, Albert Koman, Frank Komantauskas, Victoria Bonacci, Frances Dobishinsky, and Veronica Komantauskas.

She is survived by daughters, JoAnne Hickey (Herbert) of Crossville, TN, and Marilyn (Karl) Bauch of Waxhaw, NC, and by five grandchildren, Nora Miller of Mayland, TN; Joseph Hickey (Dr. Jennifer Frontera) of Brooklyn, NY; Angela Lawrence (William) of Indian Trail, NC; Eric Bauch (Jolene) of Ellington, CT; and Christopher Bauch (Elizabeth) of Coventry, CT. Also surviving are a host of nieces and nephews, and nine dearly loved great-grandchildren –  Liliana, Bridget, and Audrey; Alana and Chelsea; Blake and Luke; and Joseph and Jennifer.

A graveside service at Saint Anthony Cemetery in Forest City, is planned for Saturday, August 13th at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements are by Jones & Brennan Funeral Home 430 Main Street, Forest City.

Those wishing to make memorial donations are encouraged to consider the American Cancer Society, Autism Speaks, Blazing Hope Ranch (Dayton, TN), the American Stroke Association (of the American Heart Association), or the Saint Alphonsus Catholic Church building fund (Crossville, TN).
