Martha Ann Kotar, 90, of Vandling, died Friday January 19th at home. She was the widow of Louis V. Kotar, who died November 15, 2021.
Born in Herrick Center, daughter of the late John H. and Anna M. Maslar Emmons, she was a member of Ascension Parish, Forest City. She was a graduate of Herrick and Pleasant Mount Township Schools, Class of 1952. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed as a sewing machine operator in the local garment industry. She was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers’ Union.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Traditional Hospice, especially Amy and Christina for the compassionate care given to Martha. A special thank you also goes to Amanda and Jim Serge for their friendship to Martha and their children Marie and Matty, whom Martha considered her grandchildren.
Surviving are a sister: Lorraine Thompson, Binghamton, NY; and several nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers: Gene, William and George Emmons; and two sisters: Arlene Rasmussen; Eunice Lozinak.
The funeral will be Wednesday January 24th with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in St. Joseph's Church, Delaware St., Forest City. Interment, St. Joseph's Cemetery, Forest City. Friends may call at the church form 9:30 am until mass time. Arrangements by the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main Street, Forest City.
