Martha Mae Miller, 96, of Carbondale, died Monday June 27th at the Mountain View Care Center, Scranton after an illness. She was the widow of Robert W. Miller, who died March 28, 1994.
Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Joseph and Amanda Weaver Miles, she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Carbondale, where she served as an elder and was a member of the Women’s Association. Prior to retirement, she was the co-owner of Miller’s Market, Carbondale, with her husband. She enjoyed playing cards, cooking, gardening, and she was an avid reader and New York Yankees fan.
Surviving are two sons: William R. Miller and wife Lois, Waymart; Donald Miller and wife Mary, Carbondale; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter; five brothers: Wesley, Jack, Gilbert, Bill, and George Miles; three sisters: Venita Morria, Elizabeth Nowack, and Mary Hunter.
The funeral will be Friday, July 1st with services at 11 am by Pastor Wayne Wolfe in the First Presbyterian Church of Carbondale, 76 Salem Avenue. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park, Montdale. Friends may call Thursday, from 4 to 7 pm at the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale, and on Friday morning at the church from 10 am until service time.
