Mary “Nana” Pevec, 72, of Forest City, died peacefully on January 3rd at the Forest City Nursing and Rehab Center. She was the widow of William Pevec, who died April 25, 2004.
Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Frank and Marcella Franceski Trelc, she was a member of Ascension Parish, Forest City. Mary graduated from Forest City Regional High School and later from Meridian School of Nursing, Scranton. Prior to retirement, she was employed at Lourdes Hospital, Binghamton, St. Joseph’s Hospital, Carbondale as well a caregiver to several local residents over the years.
She married William Pevec on July 17, 1971, and they had two children: Randy Pevec and wife Alison, Browndale and Robin Brooks and husband Rob, Forest City. She was an amazing mother to her children, but more so was the most incredible Nana to the two absolute loves of her life, Michael Pevec and Jackson Brooks. They were her boys and she never passed up an opportunity to let them know that she loved them to the moon and back and more than all the stars in the sky.
She is also survived by her sister, Carol Rotherforth , friend John Chernesky and many loyal cousins and friends.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Forest City Nursing Center for the compassionate care given to Mary.

The funeral will be Monday January 10th, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in St. Joseph’s Church, Delaware St., Forest City. Interment, St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Forest City. Friends may call at the church from 10 am until mass time. Arrangements by the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main Street, Forest City.
