Mary Ann Rusek, 88, of Carbondale, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 16th at the Carbondale Nursing Home with her daughter, Mary Ellen, by her side.
Born in Olyphant, daughter of the late Lucas and Sophia Chymiak Skrobak, she was a member of Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Carbondale. Mary worked as a seamstress for various garment factories before retiring in 1996. In addition, she worked for the Convenient Market in Carbondale for over 26 years.
She is survived by her son: Joseph “Jay” and wife Norma; daughters: Virginia Lovitto and husband Walter; Mary Ellen Moran and husband John; Diana Romanovich and husband Paul; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a sister: Lillian Muia and husband Joseph; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a grandson: J.C. (John Christopher Moran); and two sisters: Martha Shust and Sophie Muscosky.
The funeral will be Friday, January 21st with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in Saint Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. Interment, S.S. Cyril & Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Peckville. Friends may call at the church, from 10 am until mass time. To observe safety protocols related to the ongoing pandemic, the family requests that all guests wear masks.
