Maureen E. Magill Obituary

Maureen E. Magill, 87, of Browndale, died Sunday August 14th at home.  She was the widow of Julius “Jay” Magill, who died June 10, 2014.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, daughter of the late William H. and Mae E. Reddin King, she was a member of Ascension Parish, Forest City.  She was a graduate of St. Agnes High School, Brooklyn, NY.  She married her beloved husband on April 4, 1959 in Richmond Hill, NY.  Early in her career, she was employed as a secretary and prior to retirement, she was employed as a Teacher’s Aide at the Beekman Elementary School in Poughquag, NY.   After retirement, her and her husband moved to Pennsylvania in 2003. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Surviving are a son: Kevin Magill and partner Toni, Union Dale; three daughters: Kerry Henderson and husband Guy, Browndale; Elaine Sokol, Marietta, GA; Sharon Magill, Carbondale; 9 grandchildren: Christina Brigham, Wayne Magill, Kimberly Magill, Jennifer Boyd, Michael Jay Magill, James Miller, Ryan Sokol, Joseph Sokol, and Amanda Sokol; 14 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law: Helen King, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers: Robert and William King; a sister: Gail Myers; and a son-in-law: James Sokol.

The funeral will be Wednesday, August 17th with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Saint Joseph's Church, Delaware St., Forest City.  Interment, St. Joseph's Cemetery, Forest City.  Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm at the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main St., Forest City, and on Wednesday morning at the church, from 9:30 am until mass time.

Memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
