Nancy Henry, 86, of Carbondale, died Saturday April 13th at Geisinger CMC, Scranton. She was the widow of William Henry, who died January 21, 2011; the couple was married on August 5, 1961.
Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Maurice and Anne Tully Henry, she was a member of Saint Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. She was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale, Class of 1956. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed as a group leader for the DSC Program at Tri-County Human Services, Carbondale. She previously worked at Carbondale Area School District in housekeeping and the cafeteria, and was a sales associate at Wee Care Shoe Store, Carbondale. Nancy was a member of the Cottage Hose Company Ambulance Corps, where she served as one of their first dispatchers; she was also a member of the Cottage Hose Company Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of “The Club”, where she would gather to socialize with her friends.
Surviving are two daughters: Laurie McHale and husband James; and Linda Almachar, all of Carbondale; three grandchildren: Michael McHale and wife Dawn, Carbondale; Erin Forsyth and husband Dylan, Greenfield, IN; and Billy Almachar, Seattle, WA; four great grandchildren: Liam, Luca, and Colton McHale; and Kaydence Forsyth; and a cousin: Sharon Haugh and husband Jack, Yardley.
She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law: Lou Almachar.
The funeral will be Thursday, April 18th from the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30am in St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park, Montdale. Friends may call Wednesday, from 5 to 7 pm.
