Patricia Cost Dilley, 83, of Carbondale, passed away on Friday September 5th, surrounded by her loving family at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore, after a courageous fight with cancer.  She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Russell Dilley.

Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Nicholas and Mildred Zigon Cost, Patricia was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, Carbondale.  She graduated from Forest City High School, attended St. Joseph School of Nursing, Carbondale, receiving her LPN in 1975; and she received her RN in 1993 from Luzerne County Community College at the age of 52.  This was quite a huge accomplishment since she was also raising five sons.  During her nursing career Patricia worked at the Scranton State Hospital and later at Farview State Hospital for many years.  Patricia was a wonderful nurse and had great compassion for her patients.  Patricia will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. One of her greatest joys was to gather her large family for dinners, picnics, and parties.  She loved traveling to her various time share locations and her husband’s Navy reunions.  Casinos were always important destinations and she would disappear for hours playing her favorite slots.


The family would like to thank her home health caregivers and the nurses and staff at Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the compassionate care given to Patricia.

She is also survived by her sons: Jeffrey Ohmnacht (Mary Beth); Scott Ohmnacht; Russell Dilley (JoAnna); her daughter-in-law Ann Marie Ohmnacht;  9 grandchildren: David Ohmnacht (Veronica); Cerra Ohmnacht (Scott Stout); Keva Tech (Brian); Heather Barhight (Von); Jeffrey and Nicholas Ohmnacht; Scott Ohmnacht; Jordan and Jessica Dilley; 6 great grandchildren: Bowen Ohmnacht; Lainey Stout; Lydia Tech; Natalie Barhight; Kelton Boris; and Auria Ohmnacht; her sister: Andrea Cucura;  her brother: Nicholas Cost; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was also preceded in death by her sons: David “Chip” Ohmnacht and Kevin Ohmnacht; and sisters: Yolanda DeSilva and Elaine Cost.

The funeral will be Thursday September 11th with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale.  Interment will follow at Saint Agnes Cemetery, Forest City.  Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm at the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale.  All those attending the funeral Thursday are asked to go directly to the church.
