Patrick G. Sherry, 57, of Vandling died Tuesday January 8th at home surrounded by family. His wife is the former Melody Morris; the couple recently celebrated 32 years of marriage.
Born in Carbondale, son of the late Marvin and Ann Woodyshek Sherry, he graduated from Forest City Regional High School. He was a member of the Ascension Parish of Forest City.
He was a long time employee of Danchek Fire Equipment, and most recently, he was employed at General Dynamics, Eynon. He was a lifetime active member of Browndale and Vandling Fire Companies, where he held numerous offices over the years. He was also a member of Forest City and Belmont Fire Companies. Patrick received several awards including the Northeastern Pennsylvania Volunteer Fireman’s Federation Valor Award, Lackawanna County Fire Police Valor Award and Vandling Hose Company Bravery Award. Patrick was a member of the Vandling Borough Council. He was a member of Browndale Sportsman’s Club. Patrick enjoyed hunting, spending time with his grandsons and his companion Ruger, and watching his beloved football team the San Francisco 49ers.
Also surviving are a daughter Nicole Kovaleski and husband Jason of Vandling; two grandsons Aaron, Wyatt; a soon-to-be expected grandchild; a brother: Robert Sherry, Morrisville two sisters: Mary Lou Gallo, New Jersey; Cindy Vanquez, Delaware; and several nieces, nephews and aunts.
He was also preceded in death by a son James Patrick.

The funeral will be Monday, January 14th with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Joseph’s Church, Delaware St., Forest City. Sprint interment, Saint James Cemetery, Pleasant Mount. Friends may call Sunday, from 2 to 5 pm at the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main Street, Forest City. All those attending the funeral on Monday are asked to go directly to the church.
