Paul G. Gill, 90, of Clifford Twp. and formerly of Carbondale, died Saturday, August 3rd after an illness.  He is survived by his wife, the former Josephine “Tootsie” Craparo; the couple would have celebrated their 67th anniversary next month.

Born in Carbondale, son of the late Raphael “Babe” and Nan Crane Gill, he was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, St. Rose Church, Carbondale.  He was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Class of 1952.  Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a supervisor for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.  He was the oldest and longest serving member of the Andrew Mitchell Hose Co., #1, Carbondale; and he was a former Assistant Fire Chief for the Carbondale Fire Department.  He was a member of the Moxie Club, Carbondale.  Paul was also an avid horseman.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their professional and compassionate care of Paul, as well as his friend Marty McGurrin, who would often visit and swap life stories with Paul.  The family would also like to give a special thank you to Joe and Mary Ellen Carachilo and Donna Bronson for their care giving assistance over the years

Surviving are two daughters: Nancy Gill, Clifford Twp.; Theresa Barna and husband Nicholas J. Barna, MD, Mountaintop; two grandchildren: Nicholas J. Barna, II, MD and Dr. Esther Yoon, MD; Laura E. Barna, MD and William E. Loughney, IV, MD; a grand-dog: Daisy; two sisters-in-law: Shirley Gill; and Joan Craparo; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was also preceded in death by a brother: Thomas “Barry” Gill.

The funeral will be Saturday, August 10th in the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale, with a blessing service at 11 am.  Interment will follow in Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.  Friends may call Saturday morning from 10 am until service time.
