Peter Borick, 97, of Herrick Center, died Tuesday April 6th at home. His wife is the former Marian Maslar; the couple would have celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary in September.
Born in Olyphant, son of the late Metro and Elizabeth Guman Borick, he was a member of Saint John’s Byzantine Church, Forest City. He was educated in the Herrick Center and Pleasant Mount Schools. Prior to his retirement in 1987, Peter worked at Specialty Records in Olyphant. He had previously been employed by PennDot and Agway. He was an active sportsman, fisherman, hunter, gardener, and loved to make rag carpets. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, who loved being with his family.
Also surviving are two sons: Peter M. Borick and wife Carol, Berwick; Anthony J. Borick and wife Margee, Manlius, NY; three grandchildren: Carissa L. Hench and husband Seth; Adam J. Borick and wife Kimberly; Kacie Noelle Borick; a great granddaughter: Carter Lane Borick; a sister: Veronica Krall, Thompson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a grandson: Peter M. Borick, Jr.; four sisters: Anna Abbruzze; Mary Howells; Helen Borick; and Elizabeth Flora; two brothers: George and Paul Borick.
The funeral will be Friday, April 9th in the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main Street, Forest City with services at 10 am by the Rev. John Cigan, Pastor of Saint John’s Byzantine Church. Interment will follow in Saint John’s Cemetery, Forest City. Friends may call on Thursday, from 4 to 7 pm.
