Philip C. Saam Obituary

Philip C. Saam, 65, of Union Dale, passed away peacefully on Wednesday January 31st after an illness.



Born in Sydney, NY, he was the son of the late John Henry and Lillian Alberta Howard Saam.  He was a graduate of Mountain View High School.  He was previously employed by the EJ Shoe Factory, Forest City, then as a machinist at Hendrick Manufacturing, Carbondale, before retirement.  He enjoyed retirement at home, raising a few chickens and taking care of his grand pups.  He was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He was also a hard working and devoted father.



Surviving are his daughter: Chelsey Saam and partner Brian Zedar, Union Dale; his friend: Forrest Williams; six sisters: Ruth Carmody and husband David, Thompson; Betty Feyerabend, Endicott, NY; Kathy Feyerabend, Norwich, NY; Joan Hall and husband Tim, Pleasant Mount; Lisa Eltz and husband Philip, Pleasant Mount; Brenda Martin and husband Warren, Pasadena, MD; five brothers:  Michael Saam and wife Margaret, Greenwood, SC; Gary Saam and wife Joan, Greenwood, SC; John Saam and Wife Ann Marie, Union Dale; Barry Saam and wife Patty, Union Dale; Randy Saam, Carbondale; and numerous  nieces and nephews.



He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Stephen and Daniel Saam; and three sisters: Sherri Spencer, Jackie Thiem, and infant Connie Saam.



The family will hold a celebration of Philip’s life at a later date.  Funeral arrangements are by the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main Street, Forest City.
