Phillip Matone Obituary

Phillip A. Matone, 78, of Blakely, died Saturday December 13th at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore.  He is survived by his wife of 46 years, the former Ellen Hobbs.

Born in Scranton, son of the late Anthony and Jean Davis Matone, he was a member of the United Baptist Church of Taylor.  He was a graduate of Taylor-Moosic High School.  He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during the Vietnam War.  Prior to his retirement, he was a self employed truck driver who often traveled cross county.  He was a volunteer for the March of Dimes and Junior Achievement.  He and his wife enjoyed going to the Greater Scranton YMCA, where they would meet up with friends to socialize.

Also surviving are a daughter: Jessica Matone Davailus, Jessup; four grandchildren: Lexi Matone; Cayden Croop; Bryce Croop; and Alex Heise; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by two sons: Jason and Phillip Matone; a granddaughter: Kaylee Matone; and two brothers; Michael and Gene Matone.

The family will receive friends on Friday December 19th from 3 to 5 pm at the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale.  Spring interment will be held at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.
