Phoebe A. Coolican

Phoebe A. Coolican, 90, of Browndale, died Thursday July 30th.   She was the widow of the late Eugene Coolican, who died in 1990.

Born in Lockport, NY, daughter of the late Earl Benjamin and Doris Richardson Littell, she was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, Carbondale. She was a graduate of Peekskill High School and the Oneonta State Teachers' College, where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics. She received her Master's Degrees in Education and Dietetics from Marywood College. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a Home Economics Teacher for the Carbondale Area School District; she designed and sewed over 100 uniforms for the band and marching units for the school. She was also instrumental in designing the program for boys to take home economics. She was a member of the Mayflower Society and the Mary Fellows Penfield Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Surviving are her children and primary caregivers: Terry Bruno, Webster, NY; Jaki Sheare, Union Dale; Jean Caudullo, Browndale; Chris Coolican, Clifford; her other children: Colleen Reiner, Elizabethtown; Kevin Coolican, Whites Crossing; Kathleen Zinskie, Olyphant; Mary Predenkoski, Hanover, MD; 19 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; a sister: Susan Littell Stewart, OH; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a son: Dennis Coolican; a grandson: Brian Sheare; a great grandson: Leo Bruno; two sisters: Diann and Bonnie Jean Littell.

The funeral will be Monday, August 3rd, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am in Saint Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale.  Private interment will be held at the Tyrone Union Cemetery, Tyrone, NY.  Friends may call Monday morning at the church from 10:30 am until mass time.  Arrangements by the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale.
