Raymond Carl Cobb, Sr., 72, of Carbondale, died Sunday November 12th at Geisinger CMC, Scranton. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Mary Ann Krisiak, who died in 2015; the couple was happily married for 44 wonderful years.
Born in Carbondale, Raymond or Ray as he was better known as, was the son of the late Henry and Lillian Rushworth Cobb. Raymond attended Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale. In 1971, he joined the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, retiring as an E6 after 31 years of service. He formerly worked as a butcher for over 20 years at Kaplan’s Meat Processing Plant, Olyphant and ran a Deer Processing Business with friends, before becoming a State Correctional Officer at SCI Waymart, where he was employed until his retirement in 2015.
Raymond had many joys in his life. Starting when he was young, he enjoyed being a black powder competition shooter. He enjoyed traveling, hunting, and spending time at the casino. He especially loved supporting local volunteer fire company gun raffles. But above all else, he loved to spend time with his grandchildren. It was always evident that he adored his wife as well as his entire family, and he set a wonderful example of a great husband, father, grandfather, and overall person. He will be greatly missed.
Surviving are two daughters: Cynthia McDermott and husband Jerry, Jermyn; Faith Phillips and husband Jeff, Waymart; a son: Raymond Cobb, Jr. and wife Monique, Carbondale; a sister: Joyce Lucas, Olyphant; two brothers: Sidney and James Cobb, both of Carbondale; six grandchildren: James Skelton, III and wife Alex; Jarred and Jason McDermott; Michael Phillips; and Audrey and Addison Cobb; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in by a grandson: Christopher Cobb; and four siblings: Ida Schwab; Lovey Durko; Joseph Cobb; and Thelma Brown.
The funeral will be Thursday November 16th, with a Blessing Service at 11:30 am in the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery, Archbald. Friends may call Wednesday, from 4 to 7 pm.
