Raymond Edward Miley, 77, of Tannersville, died on Veterans Day at home, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Marilyn Cerra Miley.
Born in Long Island, NY, the son of Dorothy L. Timmermans Miley of Carbondale and the late Arthur L. Miley, he was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church, Tannersville. He was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Class of 1966, Carbondale.
Ray was a United States Army veteran who served bravely as a member of the 2nd Battalion, 25th Infantry Regiment in the Vietnam War, where he received the Bronze Star Medal. Upon completion of his tour, he joined the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C., serving for 20 years before retiring in 1990. He then joined the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office, where he served as a Senior Special Agent in the Criminal Law Division until his retirement in 2015.
Also surviving are a daughter, Jacqueline Predmore, and her husband Jarrod, of East Stroudsburg; a son, Michael Miley, and his wife Maureen, of Paoli; five grandsons: Trace and Holden Predmore, and Owen, Asher, and Flynn Miley; a sister, Maria L. Miley, of Carbondale; a sister-in-law, Ruth Miley, of Carbondale; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Leroy Miley.
Raymond lived his life with honor and deep respect for his country. He said the rosary every day, was a devoted Phillies fan, and cherished beach trips with his loved ones. He lived an extremely humble life, wanting for nothing but always making sure those he cared for had everything they needed. Above all, his grandsons were the greatest joy of his life . The amazing stories he shared with them will continue to live on forever.
The funeral will be held Thursday, November 20th, with visitation with family and friends from 10 to 11 am at Our Lady of Victory Church, 327 Cherry Lane Rd., Tannersville Pa 18372. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am. Interment with military honors will follow at 2 p.m. at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery 404 Rt 106 Greenfield Township, Pa 18407.
