Obituary

Raymond J. Shuma, 88, of South Abington Twp., died Tuesday August 1st at Allied Services Hospice., Scranton. His wife is the former Linda LaCoe.
Born in Forest City, he was the son of the late Rudolph and Mary Rebernik Shuma. Ray was a graduate of Vandling High School and attended Ascension Parish in Forest City. He was a former member of Elk View Country Club.
He was a United States Navy veteran, having severed during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement, he works as a supervisor of materials for General Motors in Linden, N.J. In retirement, he enjoyed wood working and playing golf.
A very special thanks to the staff at the EMU at Geisinger Community Medical Center and Allied Services Hospice.
Also surviving are two sons, David Shuma and his wife, Liana, Raleigh, N.C.; and Brian Shuma and his wife, Rowana, Norman, Okla.; and his four grandchildren, Henry, Casey Reed and Reagan Shuma; one sister, Mary Cimochowski, Dallas, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, James.
The funeral will be Friday, August 11th, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, Delaware Street, Forest City. Friends may call Friday August 11th at the church from 9 a.m. until mass time.
