Robert David Chmiel, 66, of Carbondale, died Tuesday, September 8th at home. His loving wife of 46 years is the former Kathi Buffton. Bob was her first and last thought every day and she was by his side to the very end. He loved her with all of his heart and was forever grateful for her.
Born in Carbondale, he was the son of the late Felix and Loretta Fawcett Chmiel. He was previously employed as a truck driver for the Canada Dry Bottling Company and as a laborer for Simplex Industries, Scranton. Bob enjoyed gardening, and he loved watching the Philadelphia Eagles and Penn State Football. His little buddy Lincoln was always by his side. But, above all else, he loved his family. He wanted only for them to be happy, healthy, and smiling. He will be missed dearly.
The family would like to thank his caregiver Lisa Reed and Ashley from Traditional Hospice for their compassionate care.
Also surviving are his children: Steven and companion Danielle Rinaldi, Lake Scranton; Robert, Clearwater, FL; Eric, St. Augustine, FL; and Sophia Gillette and husband Todd, Simpson; and three grandchildren: Brielle, Julian, and Kalina, all of Easton. Papa was very proud of and adored each of them; they could do no wrong in his eyes. Also surviving are four brothers: Felix, Joseph, David, and Martin Chmiel; four sisters: Nancy Moran; Carolanne Evanusa; Theresa Smith; and Loretta Malson; a daughter-in-law: Dee Chmiel; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a grandson: Levi Robert Chmiel; and a brother: Louis Chmiel.
