Robert Joseph Rabiega, 80, of Nicholson, passed away Monday at home under the care of his family. His final days were spent surrounded by his loved ones. He leaves behind his adored wife Patricia Helbing Rabiega of 56 years in marriage.
Born November 17, 1940 in Scranton, he graduated from Scranton Central and went on to serve in the Army where he was stationed in Germany. For his remaining years, he was a self employed contractor; best known for his tile work.
Robert was a dedicated Jehovah’s Witness and attended The Kingdom Hall on the Morgan Highway for 31 years. He cherished time with his wife and family whether it be on a vacation or in the backyard. The outdoors were his favorite place to be.
Bob always took pride in his family as a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Those who knew him would say he truly was a selfless man whom would give the shirt off his back to help his family and friends.
Surviving is a daughter Renee’ Joyce and husband Thomas, Nicholson; Three grandchildren: Kirstyn Dempsey and husband Mickey, Hoover, AL; Caitlin Joyce and Lauren Joyce both of Nicholson; Three great-granddaughters: Kayley, Nora, and Natalie Dempsey; siblings Joan Passaniti, Gerald Rabiega and wife Kathy, Richard Rabiega and wife Linda, Shirley Colwell; brother-in-law Russell Helbing and wife Shirley; sister-in-law LuAnn Becker and husband Richard; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by great-grandson Oliver Driscoll; and siblings Michael, Ann, Harry, and Eugene.
As per Bob’s request cremation was held. Arrangements by the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Ave., Carbondale.
