Robert J. Taylor, 72, of Carbondale, died Tuesday October 26th at Abington Manor. He is survived by his wife, the former Deborah Ashby.
Born in Carbondale, son of the late Robert Joseph Taylor and Ann “Nan” Lynady Taylor, he was a 1967 graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale. He was a veteran of the Pennsylvania National Guard. Prior to retirement, he was employed for 34 years at the former Acme Markets, Carbondale. He later worked at the former Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale in the housekeeping department. He was a member of the United Food and Commercial Workers’ Union. He was a member of the Cottage Hose Company #2, Carbondale, where he served as the Captain for many years; he was also a member of the Carbondale Fire Police.
Also surviving are four children: Pamela Taylor, Carbondale; Robert Joseph Taylor, Jr. and wife Anne, Newton, MA; Sandra Gibson and husband Kai, Frostproof, FL; Ronald Taylor and husband Zhao Lu, Hoboken, NJ; five grandchildren: Kate, Robert, and Paige Taylor; Kailynn and Kaden Gibson; one sister: Judy Chapman, Carbondale; one brother: Jerry Taylor, Scranton; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a son: Donald Taylor.
Private funeral services will be held. Arrangements by the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Ave., Carbondale.
