Romayne A. Shea, 90, formerly of Carbondale, died Wednesday December 31st at Wayne Woodlands Manor, Waymart. She was the widow of William F. Shea, who died in 1995.
Born in Waymart, daughter of the late Austin and Lela Frederici Carpenter, she was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale. She was a member of Saint Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. Prior to retirement, she was employed as a clerk at Sugerman’s and formerly Eynon Drug Store. Romayne was a sponsor and leader for Al-Anon for over 40 years. She was a loving mother and dedicated grandmother.

Surviving are a daughter: Susan Shea-Gravine and husband Thomas, Waymart; a step-daughter: Linda Coleman and husband Harry, Carbondale; two step-sons: Kevin White and wife Kathy, Forest City; Brian White and wife Catherine, North Huntingdon; several grandchildren, especially Gavin and wife Courtney Nolan, and Savannah and husband John Gilligan; several great grandchildren, especially Grace and Giovanni; one sister: Rose Packer, Lake Winola; several step-grandchildren; and several nephews and several nieces including Michele, Evelyn, Darlene, Mary Ann, Kim, Colleen and Michaelene who were always there for her.
She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter; a son: Gary Dixon in 2012; seven brothers: Robert, Alford, Russell, Duane, Martin, Fred, and Lavern; three sisters: Marian Daniels; Jean Savage and Louise Spencer.
The funeral will be Friday January 9th with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. Spring interment, Clifford Valley Cemetery. Arrangements by the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale.
