Rose Loftus, 97, formerly of Carbondale, died Friday morning, March 12th at the home of her daughter in Jessup. She was the widow of James W. Loftus, who died July 17, 1997.
Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Stephen and Rose Tomko Kania, she was a member of Saint Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. She was a graduate of Saint Rose Academy, Carbondale. Prior to retirement, she was employed at the Carbondale Nursing Home as a nurses’ aide. She later worked at the Saint Rose of Lima Rectory as a cook. Rose was an avid baker who enjoyed cooking. She loved spending time with her family and going on vacations to the beach.
Surviving are a daughter, Rosemary Travis and husband Gordon, Jessup; a son: Joseph Loftus, Carbondale; six grandchildren: Kristin Travis; Erin Jablonowski and husband Joseph; Daniel Travis; Kelsey Bryer and husband Jared; Colin Loftus; Tara Loftus; a great granddaughter: Penelope Bryer; a daughter-in-law: Karen Loftus; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a son: Walter Loftus; and infant daughter: Mary; a brother: Edward Kania; and two sisters: Frances Deliman and Theresa Kania.
The funeral will be Tuesday, March 16th from the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in Saint Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday morning, from 9:30 to 10:30 am.
