Sam S. Holmes, 67, of Susquehanna, died Monday May 5th at Barnes-Kasson Hospital, Susquehanna. He is survived by his wife, the former Sandra Fahrenz.
Born in Susquehanna, son of the late Everett and Stephanie Seney Holmes, he was a graduate of Susquehanna High School. He was a United States Army veteran. He was a self employed truck driver and diesel mechanic. He was an avid motorcycle rider who loved classic cars. Sam enjoyed reminiscing about the good old days with family and friends.
Also surviving are two sons: Steven C. Holmes and wife Jessica, Suffolk, VA; Matthew Holmes, Portsmouth, VA; a sister: Robin Holmes, Thompson; three step-children: Brenda Shampang and husband David, Afton, NY; Kelli Pearsall and husband Larry, Apalachin, NY; Chelsea Macumber and companion John Wooding, Truxton, NY; eleven grandchildren: Brooke; Bailey; Liam; Anastacia; Riley; Kelsea; Layne; Damien; Dominick; Kendall; Dawsyn; several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and his little pupper, Gizmo.
He was also preceded in death by a grandson: Easton Samuel Holmes; a brother: Joseph Holmes; a sister: M. Roxann Crouch; and his first wife: Amy Wademan.
As per his request, cremation was held. A celebration of life will be held at a future date. Arrangements by the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main Street, Forest City.
