Samuel C. Artone, Jr., 53, of Carbondale, died Wednesday June 23rd. He is survived by his wife, Cindy Turonis Artone.
Born in Carbondale, son of the late Samuel and Rose Mary Ward Artone, he was a member of Saint Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. He was a graduate of Carbondale Area High School and the Williamsport Area Community College. He was employed as an electrician at Hydro in Mountain Top. He was a member of the Pioneer Rangers Hunting Club. Sammy was a quiet man. He was proud of his three daughters, and his girls adored him. He loved to cook; meatballs, sauce, and soups were his specialties. But some of his best loved times were spent hunting and fishing with his Uncle Jimmy and ending the day drinking their homemade wine and eating supersata. Sammy was supportive of his wife’s desire to open Pete’s Place. He would stop on his way home from work, sit at the bar, and greet the patrons. He loved the simple things in life and rarely complained. Sammy will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Also surviving are three children: Alexandra, Maresa, and Samantha, all of Carbondale; three uncles: James Artone and Anthony Artone, both of Greenfield Twp.; and Carmine Artone and wife Carol, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jo Artone.
The funeral will be Monday, June 28th with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in Saint Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. Interment will follow in Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill. There will be no public calling hours; all those attending the funeral are asked to go directly to the church. Arrangements by the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale.
