Shirley Dobasewski Obituary

Shirley Dobasewski, 97, formerly of Carbondale, passed away on October 28, 2025, at the Gino Merli Veterans’ Center. She was the widow of John Dobasewski, who preceded her in death in 2006.

Born in Allentown, Shirley was the daughter of the late Bernard and Blanche Lipton. She was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School and a devoted member of St. Rose of Lima Church, both of Carbondale.  Shirley was an excellent seamstress, crafting everything from doll clothes to tailored outfits for friends and family. She was also a stellar baker, always ready to share her delicious treats with anyone who had a sweet tooth. For many years, she and her husband enjoyed square dancing together, creating cherished memories filled with laughter, rhythm, and friendship.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Gino Merli 3 North for their care and kindness.

Shirley is survived by her daughters: Sherry (Bob) and Mariellen (Terry); her sons: John (Mary Carol) and Donald; her brother: Joseph; grandchildren: Amy, Frank, Donny, Kelly, and Sarah; and great-grandchildren: Alexis, Madysun, Colin, Zoee, and Riley.

She was also preceded in death by her sister: Marilyn; brother: Bernard; daughter: Marikay; daughter-in-law: Diane; and granddaughter: Vanessa.

The funeral will be Saturday November 1st with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in Saint Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale.  Interment will follow at Valley View Memorial Park, Montdale.  Friends may call Saturday at the church from 9 am until mass time.  Arrangements by the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Ave., Carbondale.
