Susan Borders Obituary

Susan Reinhart Day Borders, 78, of Crystal Lake, died suddenly on December 12th at Geisinger CMC, Scranton.  She was the widow of Alton C. Borders, II, who died June 27, 2022.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late George and Louise Reinhart Day, she graduated from Linden Hall, Lititz, and went on to earn her degree in general sciences from Endicott College.  Despite growing up in Scranton, Susan spent every summer at her family’s cottage at Crystal Lake, where she recalled fond memories spent with lifelong friends.  Susan married the love of her life, Alton, in 1967, and together they raised their two children in Foxboro, Massachusetts, until moving to Crystal Lake in 2004.  After retiring, Susan enjoyed traveling the country in an RV with her husband, spending their winters snowmobiling in Pittsburg, NH, and vacationing with her children and grandchildren.  Her home she built with love in Crystal Lake was one of her favorite places in the whole world.  Known throughout the community as “Sweetie” to take the place of “grandma”, she treated everyone like her own grandchildren and was cherished by many.

Surviving are a son: Craig Day Borders; devoted daughter-in-law: Lisa Borders, both of Crystal Lake; three granddaughters: Jessica, McKinley, and Madalyn, and loyal dog: Tucker.
She was preceded in death and now reunited with her husband of 54 years, Alton, and her son, Todd Borders.

The funeral will be Monday, December 16th in the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale, with services at 5 pm by Pastor Wayne Wolfe.  Private interment, Valley View Memorial Park, Montdale.  Friends may call Monday, from 3pm until service time.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pittsburg Ridge Runners Snowmobile Club, 17 Dickson Lane, Pittsburg, NH 03592 or Linden Hall, 212 East Main St. Lititz, PA 17543.
