Theresa Ann Jones, 82, of Forest City, passed away on Sunday, March 28th at Geisinger CMC due to complications of Covid-19. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 44 years, Harold Jones, who died January 31, 2005.
Born and raised in Forest City, daughter of the late Valentine and Frances Tedesco Swegel, Theresa graduated at age 17 from Forest City High School in 1956 and immediately began her career at Endicott Johnson Corporation, Forest City. She remained a dedicated employee until its closing in 1990. Theresa began a new career at Community Bank and Trust and retired from her position as head teller at the Forest City Branch in 2007.
In retirement, Theresa used her seemingly limitless energy to go on adventures with her Grandchildren. Theresa was a talented baker & cook, renowned for her chocolate chip cookies, spaghetti sauce, meatballs and pizza. She was generous with her time & talent and would always be ready to feed friends and strangers a home cooked meal. Her candid but cheerful personality made everyone feel at home. She made new friends wherever she went. Theresa’s hobbies included trips to the casino, scratch-off lottery tickets, tending to her flower gardens and sending cards and letters to friends near and far.
Surviving are a son: Hodge Jones and wife Sue; three grandchildren: Morgan, Christian and William; a brother Jim Swegel & wife Roseann; three sisters: Angie Svecz; Fran Beers; and Lucille Hans; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by three sisters: Marie Leonard, Rose Dunn, Annie Lang; and a brother: Valentine Swegel Jr.
A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held with interment in Saint Joseph’s Cemetery, Forest City. Friends may call Tuesday March 30th from 4 to 6 pm at the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main Street, Forest City. Face coverings and social distancing are required.
