Thomas J. Casey, Jr., 68, of Mayfield, passed away on Thursday August 27th at the Mid Valley Health Care Center after an 18 month battle with GBM. He is survived by his longtime companion, Mary Krutz of Mayfield.
Born in Binghamton, NY, son of the late Thomas J. Casey, Sr. and Gloria A. Wahy Casey, he was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, Carbondale. He was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale, and the Lackawanna County Vocational Technical School. Tom was the owner and operator of Casey’s Towing and Garage and Jermyn Auto Sales. He was an avid NASCAR fan, with his favorite driver being Kyle Busch. Tom was the king of one liners; and he always looked forward to dessert. Despite his “tough tow guy” appearance, he was a caring guy who would do anything to help family, friends, and people he just met. He loved his big boy toys, from motorcycles to motor homes, and traveling, whether it be on a long distance tow, going on a cruise, or traveling to the beach. He loved his tools and going to the flea market, but above all he loved his family and buddies. He was the protector of the family.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Mid Valley Health Care Center for their excellent and compassionate care.
Also surviving are two sisters: Alice Griebel, Carbondale; Peggy Phillips and husband James, Scott Twp.; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his best friend: Al Trichilo.
The funeral will be Wednesday, September 2nd with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Saint Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. Interment will follow at Saint John's Russian Orthodox Cemetery, Mayfield. Friends may call Tuesday, from 4 to 7 pm at the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale, and on Wednesday morning at the church from 9 am until mass time.
