Thomas Janezic, 89, of Forest City, passed away at home on Tuesday, July 9th surrounded by his wife and children.  His wife is the former Ann Marie Gardner;  the couple celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on May 6th.

Born in Forest City, Thomas was the youngest member of the Frank and Johanna Carli Janezic family.  He was a member of Ascension Parish, Forest City.  Tom served in the United States Navy on the USS Hammerberg (DE-1015).  Upon his return from serving, he met the love of his life, Ann Marie. Tom was a co-owner of the Clover Farm Dairy and the J&C Drive In, Forest City, until he took over as the sole owner. Tom, his wife and family ran the family business until 1991.  You could always find him on the early shift serving up delicious breakfast and preparing daily specials for the day. He was a member of the American Legion Post 524, Forest City, and a former member of the Forest City Lions Club.

Tom’s most prized possession was family and friends.  When you got to know him, you became part of the family.  Going on vacations, being invited to parties/family gatherings and having a friend when you needed someone.

The family would like to thank everyone that was part of Tom’s care team as Geisinger CMC, especially the nurses and aides who grew to love him, Wayne Woodlands and Wayne Memorial Hospice Care.

In addition to his wife, also surviving are two sons: Thomas and Joseph Janezic, both of Forest City; two daughters: Jill Schoepflin and husband Thomas, Bloomsburg; Jennifer Janezic, Forest City; a grandson: Alec Janezic, currently serving with the US Navy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his siblings Agnes Rutkosky, Donald Janezic, Jane Edmunds, John Janezic, Mary Andrilla, Joseph Janezic, William Janezic, George Janezic, Angeline Swegel and Frank Janezic.

The funeral will be Friday, July 12th with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Joseph’s Church, Delaware Street, Forest City. Interment will follow in the St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Forest City. Friends may call on Thursday, from 3 to 6 pm at the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main Street, Forest City.  All those attending the funeral on Friday are asked to go directly to the church. 

In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association or the National Kidney Foundation.
