Thomas Steven “Ramjet” Pelak, 67, of Mayfield, died Monday, September 21st; he lived life hard and happy. His wife is the former Kathleen Donohue; the couple celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in June.
Born in Carbondale, son of the late Basil and Ann Rozdilski Pelak, he graduated from St. Rose High School in 1971. Tom attended Penn State Main Campus, where he met his wife Kathleen. A man of many talents, he had a varied career. He was a farmer, electrician, carpenter, “tire mule”, mechanic, classic car enthusiast, and plant manager to name a few. Ramjet was a gifted musician; his passion was music. He enjoyed giving guitar lessons, sharing his knowledge of playing guitar, reading music, finding the “right” equipment, and his enormous enthusiasm for The Grateful Dead was paralleled by none.
His greatest joys were his sons Matt and Chris, his daughter-in-law: Shana, and his nephew Josh Boris. Tom’s second greatest joy in life was the fur children of his life. In his passing, Ramjet will undoubtedly be greeted by all of his former pets, including Tibby and Blue and Chong. Tom was a proud organ donor. Ramjet is in heaven playing with the band. An avid outdoorsman, he was often found outside surrounded by family and friends. He was an accomplished fisherman, hunter, and loved to camp. The former family farm was his favorite place to indulge in all of those fine pleasures in life. Teaching his sons to enjoy the wonderful wilds was a goal he achieved. His memory will live in the hearts of all those whose lives he touched.
Also surviving are two sons: Matthew Pelak and wife Shana, Scott Twp.; Chris Pelak and girlfriend Emily Heim, Archbald; a nephew who was like a son to him: Joshua Boris, Carbondale; and numerous cousins and friends.
Cremation arrangements are through the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
