Thomas P. Pendergrast, 85, of Carbondale, died Sunday November 30th at home. He is survived by his wife, the former Patricia Sunderland.
Born in Altoona, son of the late Henry and Vera Marie Short Pendergrast, he was a graduate of Altoona High School, class of 1958. He was a member of Saint Luke’s Lutheran Church, Archbald, where he served as a deacon and on the council. Prior to his retirement, he had a long career as a retail manager, working at several local stores, including Ames and Convenient Food Mart, both of Carbondale and Sugerman’s and Eynon Drug. He had previously worked at Tri-State Discount Center, Altoona. He was a member of the Saint Rose Folk Group and a volunteer with the Carbondale Classic Voices.
Also surviving are one son: Thomas P. Pendergrast, Jr. and wife Kathleen, Carbondale; one grandchild: Shannon Pendergrast, Pittsburgh; two sisters: Barbara Smith and Peggy Albright, both of Altoona; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a sister: Shirl Siedlarczyk; and two brothers: Michael and Frank Pendergrast.
A celebration of Tom’s life will be held at a later date. Arrangements by the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale.
