A new star shines bright in the sky with the passing of Trevor Robert "Slugger" Sheare, 65, of Clifford Twp. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jacqueline "Jaki" Coolican Sheare.
Born in Carbondale, he was the son of the late Trevor Daniel Sheare, Jr. and Eileen McAndrew Sheare Carlo. Upon the death of his mother, he was surrounded by a loving family who all claimed him as their own child. Nick McAndrew, Leona Machiesky, and Robert McAndrew filled a void like no other, helping to mold him into the loving husband, father, and grandfather that he became. He was a graduate of Carbondale Area High School, Class of 1977. Prior to retirement, he was employed as a heavy equipment operator with the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 542. The job he loved best was the years he spent building the Casey Highway with his "brother from another mother", his first best friend, Bobbie Machiesky. Trevor was a quiet man who was very loyal to his family and friends. He loved fishing and playing shuffleboard at The Beacon with his gang. He enjoyed working on the home that he built himself and riding on his tractor to keep his lawn looking pristine. He also enjoyed going on cruises to the Caribbean.
Also surviving are a son: Sean Trevor Sheare and wife Tara; Eileen Theresa Saam and husband Kevin; Kristen Leigh-Anne Rebernik and husband Sam; eight grandchildren: Sara Sheare; Gwenevere, Brian, Stanley, and Conrad Sheare; Jenna, Jade and Mason Saam; five siblings: Sandra Miller; Bonnie Duffy; Trevor D. Sheare, III and wife Carol; Mark Sheare and companion Sara Liuzzo; and Susan Dulsky and husband Corey; his cousins that he regarded as brother and sisters: Robert Machiesky and wife Mary Frances; Edie Dobitch; Debby Verbitsky and husband Kenny; several nieces and nephews; and too many cousins to count.
He was also preceded in death by a son: Brian Matthew Sheare.
The funeral will be Saturday, July 20th, with graveside services at 9 am in Canaan Corners Cemetery, Waymart. Friends may call on Thursday July 18th from 4 to 7pm at the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main Street, Forest City. All those attending the funeral on Saturday are asked to go directly to the cemetery.
