Vincent D. Tolerico, 102, of Carbondale, died Sunday December 28th at the Carbondale Nursing Center.  He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Cecelia Cerra, who died October 14, 2019.

Born in Carbondale, son of the late John and Marianna DeMarco Tolerico, he was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, Carbondale.  He was a graduate of Saint Rose High School, Class of 1941, Carbondale.  He was a veteran of the US Army Air Force, having served during World War II.  Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a Psychiatric Security Aide at the Farview State Hospital.  Vince was also well known as a dry goods salesman, selling products to households and people across the greater Carbondale area.  He was an avid member of the Greater Carbondale YMCA, where he would go to exercise daily.  He loved his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff of Carbondale Nursing and Rehab, and Hospice of the Sacred Heart, especially Tara Welch, who went above and beyond during Vince's sudden illness.

Surviving are two daughters: Judy Gretzula, Carbondale; Marianne Heisler and husband Luke, Scott Twp.; four grandchildren: Kristy Gretzula Clauss and husband William; Kari Sears and husband Jeffrey; Janelle Fulton and husband Peter; Valerie Madensky and husband Kevin; seven great grandchildren: Ella Sears; Ryan and Ava Clauss; Rowan and Cecelia Fulton; Amelia and Charles Madensky; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Joseph and Michael Tolerico; and a sister: Janet Oliveri.

The funeral will be Friday, January 2nd with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Fallbrook St., Carbondale.  Entombment with military honors will follow at Our Mother of Sorrows Mausoleum, Finch Hill.  Friends may call at the church Friday morning from 10:30 am until mass time.  Arrangements by the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale.
