William Maile Obituary

William G. Maile, of Carbondale and formerly of Forest City, passed away on Tuesday morning, May 31st.

Born in Carbondale, son of the late William J. Maile and Joann Marcavage Maile, he was a 1980 graduate of Forest City Regional High School and a 1984 graduate of The University of Scranton with a BA in Communications.

Bill was employed in the advertising industry, most recently as a freelance copywriter.  He loved the outdoors and was a self-taught nature photographer. His work was selected for several local and state juried exhibits including the “Art of the State: PA 2012” at the State Museum of Pennsylvania in Harrisburg. His photographs were also featured in Happenings Magazine and Pennsylvania Magazine. Some of his work can be seen at Bill Maile Art | Fine Art America.

While at The University of Scranton, Bill was a member of the 1983 DIII National Championship basketball team and was inducted into the Wayne County Sports Hall of Fame in 2015. A lifelong sports fan, he followed many of the NY sports teams. He was an avid Elton John fan having attended almost twenty shows.

Surviving are four siblings, Charlene McGraw, Nazareth, PA; Gary Maile and wife Tammy Keast Maile, Monroe, CT; Kristin Maile and husband Eric Wesenyak, Briarcliff Manor, NY; and Jason Maile, King of Prussia. He is also survived by 10 nieces and nephews, Erica McGraw Flaherty, Kevin McGraw, Michael McGraw, Lauren Maile, Rachel Maile, Evan Wesenyak, Brody Wesenyak, Rose Maile, Lena Maile and Noelle Maile as well as a great niece and nephew, Aria and Regis Flaherty.

He was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law Thomas McGraw, formerly of Browndale.

The funeral will be Friday, from the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main Street, Forest City, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in St. Joseph’s Church, Delaware St., Forest City.  Interment, Union Dale Cemetery.  Friends may call Friday at the funeral home, from 9 to 10:30 am.
