William Wallace Obituary

William F. Wallace, 76, of Thompson, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 2, 2018. He was the beloved husband of the former Catherine “Kay” Metzinger, to whom he was married to for 54 years. 

Born and raised in Ashland, son of the late William H. and Catherine A. Edwards Wallace, Bill attended Milton College in Wisconsin. He received his graduate degree in Chemistry from Case Western Reserve University in Ohio. Bill was employed as the Manager of Product Technology and Services for Exxon-Mobil in Edison, New Jersey. William and Kay moved to East Brunswick, N.J. where they lived for 27 years and made many dear friends. While residing in East Brunswick, Bill was an active member of the BPO Elks. Bill was a lifelong member in the Boy Scouts of America, where he was Scoutmaster of Troop #103, and member of the Snuffy Hollow Camporee Committee.  Bill is an Eagle Scout and was honored with the Silver Beaver Award.  He was a parishioner of Nativity Lutheran Church, East Brunswick, NJ. 

After retirement, Bill moved to Thompson, where he and Kay found their “Mountain Top Ranch” and an embracing community of friends.  Bill was passionate about Thompson Toddlers, a program serving children and their families in the local community.  Bill was also a member of the Freedom Lodge #328 of the Free and Accepted Masons, Thompson. He was a parishioner at Thompson Methodist Church. 

Bill was a devoted father to his two sons: William E. Wallace and his wife Kelli, Whitehouse Station, NJ; and Michael D. Wallace and his wife Chris, Midland Park, NJ.  He was a very special Poppy to four grandchildren: Samantha, Billy, Jessica and Emily. He was the dear brother of Edward J. Wallace and his wife Jean; and dear uncle to: Rosemarie Millicent, Jack Broderick, Edward W. Wallace, Bryon Wallace, and Walter Wallace. He was also the beloved great-uncle to many grand-nieces and grand-nephews. 

He was also preceded in death by his sister, Diane Broderick. 

The funeral will be Saturday, October 6th, with services at 2 pm in the Thompson Methodist Church, 586 Main Street, Thompson.  A celebration of life will be held on Sunday October 14th from 2 to 5 pm at the Whitehouse Fire Company No. 1, 271 Main Street, Whitehouse Station, NJ.  Arrangements by the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main Street, Forest City.
